This is my linoleum block that I had to carve on in order to create a print. I learned that it is really important to carve deep enough, so that when you print the ink, it doesn't get on that pacific part that you have carved away. Also, I had to keep in mind that whatever I did carve, that that was going to be white when I print. |
I really enjoyed printmaking. This all started with my previous project: logo design. Once I created my logo, I thought it would be unique to see a print of it. When I got finished with my carving, then I got a metal try, printmaking ink, and a brayer which is a roller. Then I took the brayer and went over my linoleum block and pressed it down on paper. The photo to the right shows the materials that I used. These couple of prints show that I did not use enough paint. For the next prints, I made improvements. These are my final prints. I was extremely happy with how they turned out. My favorite thing about this project was how you can see the black and yellow paint in each print. Also, I like how the fine details show up well.

I love how you related the print and carving to what you love in life. If you could change what your whole carving was, what would you change?

I really like your design. It looks very neat and looks like you put a lot of time and thought into this. Which I think you did. Putting the two colors together really makes the whole thing. I had a few problems like what you ran into when you went to print because the ink wasn't coming off onto the paper all the way. But, once you went back ad did changes, it turned out really neat. The question I always wonder is what would you do if you got to do this all over will the experience you gained.

I liked how you added pictures to show how you had problems with the amount of paint. I really love how your print turned out! It looked like it was really complicated to carve and paint and get it all lined up. If you did another print, what would it be?
