It was a clever idea for my teacher Mrs. Meyer, to have badges and awards for students like me to strive for. By doing this, it really helps me and others set goals and to pace ourselves when creating new things. This is also a great thing to keep in mind!
Overall, I really enjoyed these gamification challenges. They were all very exciting. The one main reason I like doing these types of gamification challenges is because we as students, get to explore and create whatever we want. Our interests are included this way. Furthermore, I like having the freedom that I get to explore new things and projects instead of being told what to do by my teachers. I really enjoyed making this painting. At first I didn't know what to paint. I painted a black background. Then I needed to add to it, so I choose three diamonds and the word 'Steelers' from their logo. Also, I like how the diamonds turned. I think next time I would spread the 'Steelers' word out next time. 'Steelers' sort of ran into the diamonds, though. It still looks good! The slideshow below shows my sketch and process photos. This painting especially links to my interests. I like the Pittsburgh Steelers, if you already didn't know that. :) If I could change something, I think I would have just left the diamonds by themselves without the words and see how that would have looked. CHECK OUT MY FINAL BELOW; (coming soon)
Take a look at my drawings above in the slideshow. I looked at objects in my house as I drew them. This helped me to spark ideas.
One of my favorite quotes is: "Be Yourself. An original is worth more than a copy." What are your favorite quotes? This is why I choose to create this painting. I like to have themes or quotes that go along with my paintings when I create them. This was a painting that I created outside of class. Check it out!
For another painting, I chose to splatter paint. This was like another experiment because splatter paints don't always turn out like you want them too. The photo directly below is my prediction sketch of the final splatter paint painting. I created another painting using the word 'love'. As you can see I adjusted the different sizes of letters for that word. I think it makes the painting unique and makes it stand out more. I choose a blueish background because it is one of my favorite colors. Also, I used tape to write 'love'. I painted pink streaks of paint around the tape. Then, I pealed off the tape. This is how I managed to spell out 'love' and keep it white but have a border of pink letters. Below shows my sketch and final photo. This is my final photo of my painting! I really enjoyed creating this, and I really like how the word 'love' pops/bolds outward. My favorite thing about the painting is how you can see the difference between the amount of paint that was used for the background. Some of the painting strokes are faded and others are heavy. It all varies. For this project I decided to play around with the paint. I was still thinking of what I wanted to paint. I mixed certain colors together and just experimented with this painting.
Check Out Challenge One and Two to Understand the Collaborative Print. For this project, I combined the two previous prints that Alex and I made. We just took our diamonds and printed the word 'Steelers' in black letters over them.
For this gamification challenge, I chose to create another printmaking task. I wanted to create another print because I thought it would be neat to combine this print and my challenge one print to make an entire new print (which I did for my gamification challenge three). Again, this print was created with my brilliant friend, Alex. The pictures below show my second printmaking project and the steps in order to make this print. Check them out.
My favorite thing about gamification in general is how we all have the freedom to choose what type of project we want to create. Gamification is when students like me, create or build whatever project they wish. This week I chose the challenge of printmaking. I like the Pittsburgh Steelers, so I wanted to create a print associated with their logo. I created this printmaking project with my friend, Alex. Take a look at the slideshow below to view the different steps associated with this project. These are two examples of my final prints shown below. I was very pleased with how they turned out. My favorite thing that I enjoyed most was printing the diamonds. I thought it would be difficult to line up the diamonds exactly to one another on the paper, but it just got easier as I went along. During my experience with printmaking, I learned that it is important to make sure you label all of your prints. This lets others know how many prints are available and how valuable your prints are individually. If I had the option of adding something to this print, I think I would add some chatter to the background to give this print more affect and detail. Also, this printmaking project has inspired me. It has let me know that I can create any type of printmaking with as many colors as possible. It may have been a challenge at first, but I managed to face it. Just remember that anything is possible and anything can be done.
